Steam Account Recovery: What to Do If Hacked
Account compromised? Act fast. Here’s exactly what to do.
Signs Your Account is Compromised
- Can’t log in (password changed)
- Unexpected trade confirmations
- Missing items from inventory
- Strange messages sent from your account

Immediate Actions (If You Can Still Log In)
- Change password – Right now
- Revoke API key – Check here
- Deauthorize devices – Settings → Security → Deauthorize all

If You Can’t Log In
Step 1: Try Password Reset
- Go to Steam Unterstützung

- Enter account name or email
- Follow password reset process

- Choose I can’t sign in

Report Stolen Items
- Go to Steam Unterstützung

- Choose Items I traded or sent are missing

Important: Steam’s policy is generally not to restore stolen items. They make exceptions for first-time victims sometimes, but don’t count on it.
Report the Scammer
- Go to scammer’s profile
- Click … → Report
- Select appropriate violation
- Provide evidence
